Cochise County Workforce Development has expanded resources to businesses relocating to Cochise County. We provide temporary space, in Sierra Vista and Douglas for employers to interview potential job applicants.
Our business center offers an office space with computer access to the Internet, printer, office supplies, scanner, phone, fax and copier. If you need a start-up temporary office, please visit us. Business is one of our local area’s primary customer.

We are always looking for ways to assist our employers. Being in a unique area and close to Fort Huachuca, we also help Department of Defense contractors fill positions with specific Military Occupational Specialties (M.O.S.). Job announcements are posted through our One-Stop network system and through our Virtual One-Stop.

Information in job listings is made available for job seekers to review. Our staff will conduct an initial candidate pre-screening to determine experience and qualifications according to employers' requirements.

Business Closures
Cochise County Workforce Development (CCWD) is part of the Arizona Workforce Connection. CCWD can help with our Rapid Response Pre-layoff Assistance team with services you and your employees need when faced with the possibility of layoff or business closure.
- What is Rapid Response?
Arizona’s Rapid Response was developed as a strategy designed to respond to business needs, before and up to the time of layoff or business closure, by quickly coordinating services and providing immediate assistance to affected businesses and their workers. Layoff Assistance teams will come in early and work with your company to minimize the disruptions that a major layoff could have on your company, affected workers, and the community. This service is provided at no cost.

In working with your Rapid Response Layoff Assistance team, you can expect the following:
- A quick response to transition planning needs.
- Confidentiality concerning business decisions.
- Pre-layoff services designed to help workers shorten their transition time.
- Assistance in explaining unemployment insurance to workers through a representative from the Department of Economic Security.
- Assistance in preparing affected workers to find new employment.
- Assistance in preparing affected workers in training for new jobs.
Some additional services that your affected employees might receive include:

- Interviewing skills workshops
- Labor market information
- Information about training opportunities

Training
Cochise County Workforce Development provides services to businesses who seek skilled new hires or training resources for existing employees. Services include:
On-the-Job-Training (OJT)
On the Job Training (OJT) is an alternative form of training to prepare for occupations in which classroom training is unavailable or otherwise not feasible. OJT is not meant to be a wage subsidy to the employer. On the Job Training is defined as an occupational skills training program activity.
On the Job Training is defined at WIA section 101 (31). On the Job Training is provided under a contract with an employer in the public, private non-profit, or private sector. Through the OJT contract, occupational training is provided in exchange for the reimbursement of up to 50 percent of the wage rate to compensate for the employer’s extraordinary costs. (WIA sec. 101 (31) (B).
Customized Training and Skills Upgrading
This service is offered according to employers' need. Budget is a critical component to being able to offer customized or skills training. Customized training is occupational training designed to meet the special requirements of a business. Customized training can be offered to incumbent workers under the following conditions:
- The employer pays for a minimum of 50% of the cost of the participant’s training.
- The employee is not earning a self-sufficient wage.
- The customized training relates to the introduction of new technologies, service procedure, or upgrading to new jobs that require additional skills or workplace literacy.
